Light Witch Studio
Located just outside the bustle of downtown Salem, MA, inside the Mills 58 complex, you can find Light Witch Studio. This art space is filled with backdrops, intriguing props, and plenty of creative energy. The studio provides shelter from the elements so we can build otherworldly scenes and play with light to craft your portrait. It also includes a cozy green room where you can get ready, touch up hair and makeup, and take a quiet breath before your session begins.
The Sets:
From simple seamless one-color backdrops that let you become the sole focus, to elaborate fantasy-painted scenes populated with whispering forests, crumbling castles, and otherworldly details, the studio offers a variety of immersive environments for you to step into and be immortalized. Tell us the world, mood, or era you'd like to inhabit—mournful gothic, whimsical fae, regal monarch, or something entirely new, and we’ll blend props, lighting, wardrobe direction, and painted scenery to make that vision tangible. Whether you want to be the quiet center of a minimalist portrait or the star of a mythic realm, our goal is to craft a setting that complements your story and lets your essence shine through the art.
The Armory:
For the last 20 years I’ve been quietly amassing a delightfully eccentric hoard of medieval weapons, armor, crowns, daggers, and a treasure trove of one-of-a-kind props. Each piece lovingly hunted, restored, and staged for dramatic effect. Nearly all of these relics are available during your session to help bring your vision to life, whether you want to be crowned monarch, battle-worn warrior, mysterious sorcerer, or something deliciously in-between. From dented helms and tarnished circlets to wickedly beautiful blades and curious curiosities that cast the perfect shadow, these items add authenticity, texture, and a whisper of story to every portrait.
